Q1: Who is the Metro Baseball League?

Q2: If I am interested in helping with my son's team, who should I contact?

Q3: I've registered my son, now what happens?

FTBA will contact you via email in March to give you a date, time and location for a mandatory parent meeting.  You will also receive specific tryout dates & times that your son will be required attend.  Shortly after tryouts, teams wil be selected and rosters will be posted to the internet site.

Q4: What is a typical season like for a travel baseball player?



  • Last two weeks in March (please refer to the March Calendar for exact dates and times) - Tryouts held for approximately 45 minutes per night for 4 nights over a 2 week period.
  • After tryouts in March - Practices are held at local Farmington facilities 2 nights per week (on average) outdoors weather permitted, indoors otherwise.

April - June

  • Practices are held at local Farmington facilities 1-2 nights per week.
  • 16 regular season games are played during this period of time.
  • Typically, a team will have 8 home games at local Farmington fields and 8 visiting games hosted by neighboring cities usually not more than 30 minutes from Farmington (Apple Valley, Rosemount, Burnsville, Cottage Grove, Lakeville, Burnsville, Hastings, Bloomington, etc.).
  • In addition to 16 regular season games, each FTBA team typically plays in 3 weekend tournaments. Some of these tournaments (usually 1) will be played at an out of the metro area location where overnight hotel stays will be required.

July - August

  • Single elimination league tournaments are played by all age groups.
  • For those teams that qualify or receive an at-large bid, state tournaments are held during 2 different weekends in early to mid-July typically hosted by a neighboring community (potentially by an out of the metro area location where an overnight stay may be required).
  • August - Typically 2 players from each team are selected to participate in an all-star tournament during the 1st weekend in August hosted at a neighboring metro area community field.
